Company Background

Sun Source was founded by John Marcocchio.

John graduated from the first Mechanical Engineering course in Canada specializing in the use and development of Renewable Energy, wind, solar and bio-gas in the early 1980’s. John subsequently completed a Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies and a PMI certified Project Management Professional program.

John worked in the Solar industry in Canada throughout the eighties and ventured as far as Africa undertaking renewable energy projects. In the mid-1980s he worked on several projects in Jamaica and moved to the island in 1990.He has since focused on executing large development and built environment projects throughout the Caribbean region including the islands of:

  • The Bahamas
  • Turks and Caicos
  • St. Lucia
  • Dominica
  • Antigua
  • Tobago

In Jamaica John has conducted a series of wind energy audits for bauxite companies, has been senior Project Manager on projects that include Sandals hotels, and played a lead role the development of Chris Blackwell’s Island Village complex in Ocho Rios (and Sun Source has recently completed a solar powered water pumping system installation that supplies water to a cattle farm owned by Mr. Blackwell in Trelawny).

John established Sun Source to help clients throughout the Caribbean utilize renewable energy technologies to cost-effectively harness the region’s abundant sunshine and optimal wind regimes.
